Lindsay Lake, a second year poetry candidate in UNC Wilmington’s MFA program, has been named graduate publishing assistant for Lookout Books. She steps into the role vacated by Nicholl Paratore, who recently completed her MFA in creative nonfiction. Lindsay is currently the designer for Chautauqua literary magazine and interned last spring for Lookout Books as part of the creative writing department’s graduate publishing practicum.

“I learned so much about the expansive world of publishing last spring,” says Lake. In faculty member Emily Smith’s practicum course, she helped launch Lookout’s redesigned website and led on several key marketing and promotional efforts. “I’m excited to continue learning about the magic that makes words pop off the page and into our hearts,” she says.

“Lindsay’s background in layout design, combined with her impressive knack for promotion and her commitment to reader engagement, make her a very welcome addition to our team,” said Lookout publisher Emily Louise Smith. “I’m excited to work with such a thoughtful and creative advocate for our authors and books.”
